The Little Hunchback

The Little Hunchback
Brief: 'To choose a a story from the 1001 Arabian Nights and visually interpret it using your recent to trip to San Francisco as influence.'

Response: We chose the Little Hunchback story, formatting it as a storybook where we each gave ourselves a character to interpret the range of diversity San Francisco offers. I illustrated the Chinese Tailor, where I also used collage and my own photography techniques to portray Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. In terms of creating the book, we mass produced one for each team member - binding it ourselves and introducing french fold. The text is placed inbetween the illustrations on acetate, where the user can place the text on the image as they wish. The Look and Feel of the book is meant to hint a 'detective' style using typewriter and dymo embedded fonts, as the story implies how each character is possibly a murderer.
